Avocado, Good on Toast, Great for Your Skin
Avocado has become a favorite healthy, versatile fruit in the last few years. Whether sliced on toast (my personal favorite), mashed up as a dip, cubed into a salad, or eaten straight from the tree, these fatty fruits are all they're smashed up to be.
Avocados are packed with good fats and fiber, which means they help you stay full longer. One study involving 700 women found that a high total fat intake - precisely types of healthy fats found in avocados was associated with more supple, springy skin. They're also a great source of vitamins.
In a recent blog on supplementing collagen, I shared how using avocado oil in your diet significantly increases type II collagen. In addition, the oil of this delicate green fruit can be just as beneficial to your skincare routine as it is to your diet.
Restoracell's Skin Awakening Moisturizer includes just the right amount of avocado oil to help soothe and restore skin. Its lightweight texture allows the enriching compounds of the oil to penetrate deep into the skin to support moisture balance, lock in hydration and promote bright skin without leaving a greasy film on your face.
The many beneficial ingredients that make up the oil include lecithin, which helps improve psoriasis and eczema. "Avocado oil also includes Vitamins C and E, which are potent antioxidants that can help protect the skin from damage, from free radicals and UV rays and pollution," says board-certified dermatologist Hadley King, MD.
An important ingredient to touch on in avocado oil is phytosterols, which acts as a natural sunscreen and anti-irritant that helps soothe chapped, red or irritated skin. The polyphenols and vitamins present in avocado oil combined with the GHK-Cu (copper peptides) in the Restoracell Skin Awakening Moisturizer work together to combat oxidative stress which helps your skin stay nourished and prevent the onset of new wrinkles.
Considering the benefits of the avocado, it is a perfect fruit to be enjoyed on your toast as well as your skin.
